最失望是看不到期待的突尼斯“本土”传统元素：如同《哭声》的跳大神、《招魂》的献祭仪式、甚至《僵尸道长》的符咒，《诡奇村庄》由始至终都缺乏令人印象深刻的符号（若真有，那也是如同天葬般裹尸台的寥寥数镜）。从毕业作品到探访疯人院，再到隐秘村落毛骨悚然的阴暗历史，还有自我身世的抽丝剥茧，从逻辑到执行都强差人意，开膛的血腥镜头作为cult片不够饱满，作为恐怖片又有些前后风格不一。虽然画质与制作都精良，但惊悚度其实还比不上《中邪》。
